Alori Collection: Why You Need It

Good things come to those who clean their makeup brushes and to those who don’t? Well you’re throwing your money straight in the toilet. Cleaning your brushes not only keeps bacteria away but also prevents your skin from break outs. The cleansing process helps with the longevity of your brushes/sponges. If you are not cleaning your brushes often or God forbid at all you are spending more money having to replace them.

Why Alori Collection?

So I was definitely not in the market for a new cleanser. I’ve been using the brand I had since I started doing my own makeup at 18 but when I seen Priscilla Ono do a tutorial on how she cleaned her brushes with Alori solid cleansers and how quickly it went; how could I not invest in it!

Alori Collection is a company started by Alo and Ripley, their names combined is the brand (super cute). They sell two types of cleansers; solid and liquid. Their company is also the first to have a scent focused cleanser! Both cleansers are cruelty-free and are not tested on animals. They also have vegan cleansers that don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients.

Review

From start to finish I was in love. I purchased the solid brush cleanser in the scent Vanilla Chai. The small container is palm size and perfect for the traveling makeup artist. As soon as I opened the package I could smell the scent, like a candle I never want to blow out. I was able to clean all of my brushes – a total at the time 20 brushes and 2 sponges in less than 15 minutes. This normally takes me 30-45 minutes. You can see a video of my first impression using the solid cleanser saved on Instagram under my “Beauty highlight.

Q&A

How much are the cleansers?

The liquid brush cleanser are $15.99 and the solid brush cleanser are $28.

What is the difference between the two cleansers?

The liquid brush cleanser has to be diluted with water at certain measurements depending if you are cleaning a brush or sponge in order to do the cleanse. The solid brush cleanser requires no dilution. You can rush the cleanser and/or the tip of your brush or entirety of the sponge and swirl in a circular motion. To remove the dirt you can use your hand or a brush pad and rinse with water.

How often should you clean your brushes?

Dermatologist recommend that you clean your brushes every 7-10 days especially those used more frequently like foundation and concealer brushes. I typically clean my brushes once a month because I have so many I rotate them. I’ve gotten into a better habit of twice a month. I have a faithful brush I use for every eye look and foundation, I clean these after every use. I’ve had these brushes for 5-6 years and they still look like new.

I highly recommend this cleanser and am adding the liquid cleanser to my collection so I can have one for home and the other for travel. Alori Collection is more than brush cleanser though! They also have collections of brushes, sponges, and make up remover.

I always forget to clean my eyeshadow brushes cause they go back in the case after use. But right now, it’s a good idea to be cleaning these items. So thanks for the reminder!

I do that too. I now have a travel bag that I keep dirty brushes in so I can remember to clean them
