Hey gorgeous. I thought it was time to talk about the biggest organ we have – our skin! I hope by sharing my current skin care routine this helps your own journey. Please remember everyone has different skin types so some products I use may not work for everyone. For example, I have combination skin: this means I have a mix of oily and dry areas on different parts of my face.
*Prior to doing my skin care routine I start with clean washed hands and a clean towel to dry my face after cleansing.*
As a facial cleanser I use CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin. Following the advice of @Labeautyologist (handle on Twitter/Instagram), cleaning your face WITH your fingers for 60 seconds allows the ingredients in your cleansers to actually work. I never knew that and prior to learning this 6 months ago I probably cleansed at the most 15 seconds. To help I usually set a timer on my phone or sing the theme song from a show like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I promise your skin will glow for the better.
Now coming from a girl who never did it I highly recommend toning. Toning between each step of your routine increases absorption, effectiveness, reduces irritation and inflammation. Toning also returns the pH to balance before you start the next step of your skin care process. I use a hydrating toner like Heritage Store Rosewater Facial Toner every day and an exfoliating toner like Youth To The People every other day.
Nothing says self care like a good face mask and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Masks aren’t a necessity for good skin care but I like to do them so don’t feel obligated. I like to face mask once a week The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. I recommend mud mad over clay or peel type mask since it is essentially pulling off your skin and doing more harm than good. Following a face mask I also do an under eye mask. My latest buy was the Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Mask. *To get the full benefit of an eye mask I put in the fridge at least 15 minutes before using.*
My favorite step – moisture! I finely found a moisturizer that actually works so I enjoy this so much. I use the CeraVe moisturizing cream great for the face and body. Since it’s a cream not a lot is needed to moisture the face especially if you have oily skin.
